  • Rogerian | Alternative voice option: A simple and elegant session interface based on Carl Rogers' famous Person-Centred Therapy. In this style of therapy, the counsellor manifests the "core conditions" to the client of
    • genuineness (honesty and transparency, no reactions hidden from the client)
    • acceptance (an unconditional positive regard for the client, i.e., no hint of criticism or judgment)
    • empathy (seeing the client's topic from the client's internal frame of reference, both as to factual content and emotional).

In this nurturing environment, the client is encouraged to share what is on her mind. At appropriate intervals, without interrupting the client, the counsellor tentatively reflects back to her in paraphrased and summarised form the factual content of what she has just said, as well as its emotional content. By looking at this second view, and correcting it as needed, the client is empowered to clarify and sort out in her mind the topic that had been troubling her. This model is duplicated quite well, and ingeniously, by the RoboCounsellor, despite not being in the least human.

  • Transactional Analysis (TA) | Alternative voice option: was developed by Eric Berne. He detailed it in his 1964 book, Games People Play, which to date has sold over five million copies. Berne died in 1970, but his work has been expanded by others. Today the subject is quite broad. This RoboCounsellor approach goes back to the simple roots of Berne's work, its essence.

The general idea is that at any one time a person's thoughts, feelings and behaviour are governed by one of three main "ego states," Parent, Adult or Child.

RoboCounsellor will help you spot times you acted out of non-optimum ego states. You will get the opportunity to explore each incident you want to, decide on which ego state you were operating from at that time; work out what an appropriate behaviour for you would have been; if needed role-play such an appropriate behaviour; and if desired do a deeper probe into the identity you unconsciously assumed at that time with a view to separating out from it.

  • Tabletop Psychodrama | Alternative voice option: Jacob L. Moreno developed psychodrama in the 1930s and 40s. There is a stage, often simply a table and chairs. There is a director/therapist and a hero and villain, with a supporting cast and an audience. The client would usually play the part of the hero, the drama being some issue in her past, present or future life she wishes to work on. Other people play the other roles. In this way, hidden thoughts and feelings are brought to the surface and often expressed, and catharsis — a release of feeling — can occur. Later analysis can help bring about a change in thinking and feeling about the issue explored.

Tabletop Psychodrama is based on this, but modified for RoboCounsellor use. The client sits at a table, or suitable flat surface, with the computer and various small objects like tissue boxes and tin cans. At RoboCounsellor's direction, the client writes out an outline of this particular scene, then draws a represention of herself in that scene on paper, which she then wraps around a can, say. She would then position her character front and centre on the stage, facing in to the action, not out to an audience. She would create the other characters and place them in their correct relative positions on the stage.

When directed, she would then run through the scene. She would start by inhabiting her own character on the stage, usually with her head positioned directly above it, voicing each part herself, moving the characters around on the stage as appropriate, breathing life into the whole scene. She can whisper lovingly or yell and swear; nurture or ignore or even destroy a character as she chooses. RoboCounsellor will then direct her to write a summary of anything new, any change of viewpoint or feeling she has about the issue. She will then play through the action, one scene or many, again and again until the topic is no longer an issue. She can choose from seventeen variations, including focusing on the emotions, another's viewpoint, spiritual/cosmic aspects, what-if scenarios, and many more.

  • Troubleshooting Add-On: Used in conjunction with any of the RoboCounsellor modules, following the instructions here will enable the user to find the most likely reasons for any trouble in a RoboCounsellor session and put it right. This add-on is the only session interface on the RoboCounsellor site that uses alternative counselling methods rather than conventional ones, at least, overlooking the fact that the whole robocounselling paradigm is not too conventional in itself. The modalities used are the Rub & Yawn mental energy flush, and 6-direction visualisation. The reason these are used here is quite simply because nothing else in the conventional field works as well, and repairing something precious deserves the best tools available

PaulsRobot (Alternative) Counselling and Self-Development Session Modules

Note that session modules will only work when you have registered for a free (or subscription) account at www.paulsrobot.com and are logged in there

Free:

  • Core: The original Paul's Robot core module, with added sparkles and brought up to date. The two techniques used here — Rub & Yawn Reach and Withdraw, and Rub & Yawn General 6-Direction — place under the user's control a very powerful means of discharging harmful mental and emotional energy from a wide variety of "hot" topics. These hot topics may range from the mildly distressing to the outright traumatic, and discharging the unwanted bad energy associated with them will free up the person's attention in those areas. This can enable a newfound clarity of thought and improve one's outlook on life generally.
  • Basic R3X: (free for a limited time only) An abridged version of the full R3X procedure, that combines the power of the 6-direction technique with the facility of a personal time-stream recreation and run-through technique. This still allows an in-depth re-experiencing and discharging of incidents or feelings, but without getting too deeply into the cosmic significances. By honing in on very deep-seated feelings, Basic R3X is possibly the best procedure at PaulsRobot for digging up past lives and making access to these more readily available to the individual. Rub & Yawn is an optional part of this module, as it is not native to R3X and the purist might prefer not to include it. Includes Lifetime Scanning.
  • Troubleshooting Add-On: Used in conjunction with any of the PaulsRobot modules, following the instructions here will enable the user to find the most likely reasons for any trouble in a PaulsRobot session and put it right.

  • All free modules as above
  • HeavyDuty: In addition to the two core procedures above there are 13 other variations of the workhorse 6-direction technique, dealing with the following factors: Multiple Copies; Shock Moments; Multiple Viewpoints; Imaginary; Confront; Responsibility; Not-There; Efforts; Emotions; Thoughts; Time-Shift; Spiritual; and Cosmic.
  • Morph: Uses Rub & Yawn visualisation techniques separate to the 6-direction technique, namely Attitude (2 options); Color (10 options); Condition (6 options); Dimension (10 options); Emotion (6 options); Location (8 options); Motion (14 options); Pain (2 options); Sensation (2 options); Shape (6 options); Size (4 options); Sound (6 options); Space (6 options); People (2 options); Time (4 options); Transform (10 options); Universe (10 options); View (2 options).
  • False Data Stripping: A simple procedure completely under the user's control to discover "false" information he has come across that has tied up his thinking by conflicting with "true" information in any particular subject. The person is not usually aware of the specific conflict, although he is usually aware of not being able to think with the part of the subject in question. FDSing is not a magical way of determining the absolute truth or falsity of statements, but it is good for spotting and unblocking conflicts of understanding that have made one foggy in some parts — or the whole — of a subject or area.
  • NotTooShabbyPower: A combination of a more doable version of the final (supposed) Super Power technique and the famous Rising Scale technique; comprising both the original 14 pairs and an additional 64 pairs to pick and choose from.
  • Dipoles: Similar to NotTooShabbyPower but more general, allowing a discharge between any contrasting pair chosen by the user. It can be used on pre-written pairs, or on a pair prompted by a specific question after the start of the session, designed to locate the best pair to work on at this exact time.
  • LovedOne: (A transpersonal module) This is designed to make it easier to communicate with a Loved One one cannot not reach with the usual letters or phone calls (includes by reason of death). Group A has 3 techniques covering general issues: General Clean-Up; Sharing Thoughts, Emotions and Images; and Long Distance Communications. Group B includes these techniques: Upsets with your Loved One, Incomplete Communications. . . , Disappointments. . . , Disagreements. . . , and Other Issues. With these factors taken care of, Group C goes into potential remote contact techniques, namely Reach & Withdraw, Hello & OK, Ping & Receive, Poke & Receive, Hug & Release, Be the Other.

Here are many very specialized modules. If you don't recognize the names, it would probably be best to skip them all!

  • CCH 1-4
  • CCH 5
  • CCH 6
  • CCH 7
  • CCH 8
  • CCH 9
  • CCH 10
  • Opening Procedure of 8-C
  • S-C-S on a Body
  • Opening Procedure by Duplication

Finally, there are four highly transpersonal (and very interesting!) session modules which have been withdrawn for now until copyright issues can be resolved, probably by extensive editing.

  • ColorBreathing: is based around a technique from Barbara Brennan's excellent book, Light Emerging, which involves breathing various colors into and out of the body and aura. She says this helps you to develop the specific attributes associated with these colors in your own life. The technique has been adjusted slightly so it will fit into the Paul's Robot paradigm. This is a Rub & Yawn module, as usual.
  • ChakraCare: is based on information from Barbara Brennan's book Light Emerging. Phase 1 is pretty much exactly the procedure in "Color Meditations for the Chakras" on page 140, although converted to the PaulsRobot paradigm. Phase 2 is derived from work a healer might do on a client, but the book does not describe this as a solo procedure at all. This is a Rub & Yawn module, as usual, but this plays a lesser part in the procedure than usual.
  • RAW4 (Reach and Withdraw 4): is also based on information from Barbara Brennan's book Light Emerging. It is designed to make it easier for someone to become aware of the different parts of their body and their being. Some of the parts may be unfamiliar, and some may not even exist! However, the author does believe this module to be accurate. Decide for yourself. The "4" in the name refers to the four different "dimensions" covered here: the physical body; the auric bodies; the hara level; and the core star. Again, Rub & Yawn plays a lesser role here.
  • SpotAnAngel: is also derived from information in Barbara Brennan's book Light Emerging. It is designed to make it easier for someone to sense by different perceptual channels what is in the different "dimensions" or realms of existence, including the normal physical one. An "angel" is a specific kind of entity among the many, many things and entities that this module covers.
