General instructionsRead the general RoboCounsellor instructions if you are not familiar with them. Transactional Analysis (TA)Before starting the session you should have a written session plan. This is a strategic plan for the session that is best worked out in the calm before the session and not in the middle of one in the "heat of battle", so to speak. :). Here are some examples of doable TA session plans. The end point for a Transactional Analysis RoboCounsellor session is covered in General Session EP. The general idea of TA counselling is for the client to look at how she interacts with others, and to recognise where she has been interacting from a non-optimum archaic (i.e. from the past and not generally applicable in the present day) Child or Parent state. Hopefully, having recognised and analysed these inappropriate attitudes, feelings or behaviours as to the ego states they stem from, she will then be able to act more autonomously in similar situations in the future. The RoboCounsellor approach is similar, but takes it further. The client is pointed in the direction of these archaic reactions, starting with ones which are most significant to her, and the relevant ego states are found as before. But rather than just hoping all will be well in the future, the client undertakes role-playing exercises to help get into the new and desired pattern of attitude and behaviour. If she feels this isn't enough, she can then work on debug actions aimed at possible reasons for her difficulty in snapping out of temporarily taking on the identity of that other person from her past. She can push through with these actions or abandon them at any time and get on with the next point of concern. Great! Let's do the full pre-session check to make sure I'm ready for the session. |
